yesterday and today have been spent getting all of our shots where our actors are dirving. there’s a few ways to do this. one is to use a process trailer. it’s a trailer and truck that has an integrated generator, fold out wings for camera and lighting setups, and lots of different places to hook lights up.
here are some photos with one of our hero (name for any car that’s in the script) cars on it.
here’s a video of the caravan (cop car leading us) pulling away. it’s pretty impressive to see going down the road. they even took it on the highway yesterday with the 2 guys standing on the trailer. hanging out on this and driving it all around louisville and downtown was the most fun i’ve had on a film set to date.

another way to film driving scenes is to fake it. we did this for our night driving scene so we could control the lighting more. a LOT goes into making this look believable. we had 5-6 different lighting gags (lights imitating something else).
this is what that starts to look like.
and here’s a video showing all the different light gags we had to fake streetlight, oncoming headlights, cars passing to the side, cars from the back, and someone gently shaking the car for road bumps. movie magic!

our location today is inside a funeral home. I got here at 5:45am and was greeted by seeing a dead person. CREEPED OUT.
the last three days we spent filming in the national city building at a law firm on the 35th floor. the first day we were there blake (the boom operator) and i snuck up to the rooftop and got an incredible view of louisiville from the highest standing point in the city.
it was pretty awe-inspiring.
